Pet Vaccinations
Vaccines prevent illness and costly treatments. With regular vaccination protocols, we can prevent animal-to-animal infections and sometimes even animal-to-human infections.
Different vaccines for dogs and cats.
At Downey Veterinary Hospital, we vaccinate against the following diseases:
Dogs
- Canine Distemper
- Infectious Canine Hepatitis / Adenovirus2
- Parainfluenza virus-related infections/diseases
- Parvovirus infections
- Canine Tracheobronchitis (Kennel Cough)
- Leptospirosis infection
- Rabies Infection
Cats
- Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (feline herpes)
- Calicivirus related infections
- Panleukopenia (feline distemper)
- Leukemia
- Rabies Infection (PureVax Feline Rabies – PUREVAX® Feline Rabies is a nonadjuvanted, recombinant vaccine using a canarypox vector to trigger protective immunity against rabies. Its safety and effectiveness have been proven in vaccinated cats through testing.)
Some of the vaccines are combined (DHPP, DHPPL, FVRCP). In California, rabies vaccines are required for all dogs over 12 weeks of age. We highly recommend that all of our feline patients are also vaccinated against rabies infection.
